The Who’s Tommy brings the band’s landmark rock opera to hybrid stereo SACD from Analogue Productions. Mastered direct to DSD from original analog sources, this edition includes all 24 tracks, from “Overture” to “We’re Not Gonna Take It.”
Released in May 1969 and conceived by guitarist Pete Townshend, Tommy follows a boy who cannot hear, speak or see as he becomes a spiritual and cultural phenomenon. The album helped launch The Who to international superstardom and established their ambitious approach to storytelling through rock music.
Settle in for the complete album, including “Pinball Wizard,” “I’m Free” and the closing “We’re Not Gonna Take It,” with its “See Me, Feel Me” finale. Keith Moon’s drums, John Entwistle’s bass, Roger Daltrey’s vocals and the album’s acoustic passages make this a rewarding full-length listening session.
