Steely Dan’s Can’t Buy a Thrill brings “Do It Again,” “Dirty Work” and “Reelin’ in the Years” to Analogue Productions hybrid stereo SACD. This edition is mastered direct to DSD from the original master tape by Bernie Grundman and includes the complete ten-track album.
Released in November 1972, the band’s platinum-selling debut combines tightly crafted songs with soft rock, folk rock and pop influences. Written by Donald Fagen and Walter Becker, it was recorded at The Village Recorder in Los Angeles in August 1972 and produced by Gary Katz.
Settle into the album’s distinctive mix of memorable melodies and elliptical lyrics, from the opening “Do It Again” to “Turn That Heartbeat Over Again.” This is the only Steely Dan album to feature David Palmer as a lead vocalist; drummer Jim Hodder also takes the lead on “Midnite Cruiser.”
