The Jimi Hendrix Experience’s Are You Experienced? brings the band’s groundbreaking debut to hybrid SACD from Analogue Productions. Remastered by Bernie Grundman from the original analog master tapes, this edition includes both mono and stereo mixes on the SACD layer. The CD layer contains the stereo mix only.
This release presents the original 11-song U.S. album, released in August 1967, including “Purple Haze,” “Hey Joe,” “The Wind Cries Mary,” “Fire” and “Are You Experienced?” Hendrix’s expressive guitar work, Mitch Mitchell’s drums and Noel Redding’s bass combine blues and rock with adventurous studio textures.
Listen through the driving opening of “Purple Haze,” the spacious melodies of “The Wind Cries Mary” and the backward drum and guitar passages of the title track. With both mixes available on the SACD layer, this edition offers two perspectives on the Experience’s debut.
