The Doors’ L.A. Woman brings blues-driven rock and Jim Morrison’s distinctive vocals to Analogue Productions hybrid multichannel and stereo SACD. Mastered by Doug Sax and overseen by Doors producer and engineer Bruce Botnick, this edition includes the complete ten-track album.
The final Doors album recorded with Morrison features “Love Her Madly,” the driving title track and the atmospheric “Riders on the Storm.” From “The Changeling” to “Crawling King Snake,” the album’s blues emphasis gives its songs a gritty, late-night character.
Mastering and surround source
The surround program originates from the 96 kHz/24-bit files mixed and mastered by Bruce Botnick for the Doors/Perception DVD-Audio release. Those mixes were created from the original one-inch, eight-track, 15 ips analog master tapes. For this SACD release, the surround mixes were upsampled without filters to DSD using the Weiss Saracon format converter and authored by Gus Skinas at the Super Audio Center.
