Miles Davis’ Bitches Brew arrives on a limited, numbered two-disc hybrid stereo SACD edition from Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab (MoFi/MFSL). This Original Master Recording edition is mastered from the original master tapes and includes all six tracks from the landmark 1970 double album.
A defining recording in jazz fusion, Bitches Brew brings collective improvisation together with rock, funk and R&B influences. Davis guided the musicians with directions for tempo, solos and cues, while producer Teo Macero shaped the performances through tape editing.
Multiple drummers and two bassists put rhythm at the center of the music. Settle in for the expansive textures of “Pharaoh’s Dance” and the title track, then follow the shifting grooves of “Spanish Key” and “Miles Runs the Voodoo Down.” The album’s layered percussion, echoes and melodic passages reward focused listening.
