Genesis’ Abacab combines the band’s progressive rock roots with a more direct, pop-oriented sound. This Analogue Productions Atlantic 75 Series hybrid stereo SACD celebrates the 75th anniversary of Atlantic Records and presents the 1981 album in a stereo edition.
Featuring “Abacab,” “No Reply at All” and “Man on the Corner,” the album balances accessible hooks with adventurous arrangements. From the title track to “Keep It Dark” and “Dodo,” it captures Genesis exploring a new direction without leaving their musical ambition behind.
Engineered by Hugh Padgham, Abacab features production techniques including gated-reverb drums. Recording began in March 1981 at the band’s newly established Fisher Lane Farm studio near Chiddingfold, Surrey, making it their first album recorded in England since A Trick of the Tail in 1976.
