America’s self-titled debut brings acoustic guitars, warm harmonies and folk-rock favorites to Analogue Productions hybrid stereo SACD. Part of the Acoustic Sounds 40 Series, this edition is mastered to DSD from the original master tape by Matthew Lutthans at The Mastering Lab.
The album pairs Dewey Bunnell, Gerry Beckley and Dan Peek’s vocal chemistry with songs including “A Horse with No Name,” “I Need You” and “Sandman.” Released in the U.S. in January 1972, the debut helped establish the trio’s melodic acoustic sound.
Settle into the complete twelve-track program, from “Riverside” to “Pigeon Song,” and revisit the interplay of guitar textures and layered harmonies. This release is one of 40 titles celebrating the 40th anniversary of Acoustic Sounds.
